Multicultural Framework Review
Joined by guest speaker Trish Hepworth, the ALIA Multicultural Committee had a robust discussion on the recently released review in the August/September meeting.
The national level report recognised the role of public libraries as important institutions in establishing a commitment to Multicultural Australia. As a broad ranging report however, there yet remains specific recommendations for individual libraries to execute.
Trish suggested the review would be a great foundation for framing library advocacy and partnerships with other community organisations, and posed an insightful question "what way can this report be of use to us rather than how can we respond to it"?
A thank you to Trish and everyone in the Committee for their contributions towards this discussion.
